The arraignment of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, alongside his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu and the former Clerk of the National Assembly alongside his deputy also before the Federal High Court in Jabi Abuja on the 21st of June, 2016 on charges of Conspiracy and Forgery has been postponed till the 27th of June, 2016. The arraignment was postponed following the inability of the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation to serve them with the originating summons
According to the charges, the defendants were said to have conspired among themselves to forge the Senate Standing Order on the 9th of June, 2015 which was used to conduct an election in which Saraki and Ekweremadu emerged as winners. The offence is punishable under section 97 of the Penal code law and rumour has it that a vote of confidence would be passed on the Senate President and his deputy by other senate members
